WP2 Semantic and conceptual basis of language
Stephanie Theves is a PhD student at the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging based in Nijmegen. She holds a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a Master degree in Interdisciplinary Neuroscience from the University of Frankfurt.
Her research within the Language and Interaction Consortium focuses on the neural basis of conceptual semantic memory. In her project she will use high-field functional MRI and multivariate data analyses to map the emergence of conceptual knowledge representations over the course of learning in the hippocampal-prefrontal-thalamic circuit. This project will help to understand how conceptual meaning is assigned to novel information, entailing implications for research on semantics and semantic memory.
