Johan van Benthem

WP2 Semantic and conceptual basis of language

Johan van Benthem is University Professor of Logic at the University of Amsterdam, Henry Waldgrave Stuart Professor of Philosophy at Stanford University and Changjiang National Professor at the Tsinghua University in Beijing.

His main current interests are logics of information-driven agency, logic and games, logic and epistemology.

Within Language in Interaction his interests are natural language as an interactive communication device, language as a medium for cognitive activity, interfacing logic, computation, game theory, and empirical cognitive science. He is a member of Work Package 2.

With regard to Utilization Johan is working on the outreach of logic and language studies, activities toward new forms of education (also toward children), game design, general culture.
