WP1 Speech perception and production in interaction
Shruti Ullas is a PhD candidate in Cognitive Neuroscience at Maastricht University.
Her research is focused on understanding driving forces in perceptual recalibration. When encountering sources of variability in speech, such as a new accent or dialect, perceptual systems are able to adapt quickly and readjust themselves in order to accommodate these differences. Her project will look at the various ways in which our perceptual systems are retuned in these situations. As a student participating in LiI, she will investigate the neural correlates of perceptual recalibration processes using high-resolution, functional MRI.
