PhD Project 33
Learning and Adaptation in Neurobiological Models of Language Processing

PIs: Petersson (MPI), Zuidema (ILLC), and Hagoort (DCCN)
PhD-candidate: Alessio Quaresima
Start date: February 01, 2019
(last update 2019-07-01)
Research Content
In this PhD project, Quaresima will investigate how plasticity on various timescales interacts with structural features of spiking networks for sentence comprehension. These features include connectivity in cortical microcircuits and spatial structure in the dendritic tree. Thus, it will utilize the novel multi-compartmental neuron model that was developed at an earlier stage of BQ1. Computational models built during this project will be integrated into a larger Memory, Unification & Control architecture for language processing.
